I can remember a day when I lived with my parents. It seems long ago indeed but not so far gone that I can’t close my eyes and remember those days. The days when your entire family lived under the same roof. In my family each of us had our own television. So there were very rarely family movie nights and you’d hardly ever see more than two people in the family sitting in front of a television watching the same show. We each had different likes when it came to movie, and TV show watching; so naturally we all had a way of watching exactly what we wanted to watch.
Many years later things haven’t changed much in terms in terms of all of us having different likes and wanting to watch our own thing. Although I no longer live with my parents and my siblings do not either; so when we do get together we all enjoy watching the same thing together on one television. The last part in that sentence brings me to my point. In my opinion more and more people are resorting back to having just one television in their home. I could be wrong about this, but I have slimmed down to only having one 56″ HD television in my living room and that’s it. There were many years when I had another TV in my bedroom, but I decided a few years ago to get rid of having a TV in my bedroom. I loved gaining space back and I really didn’t miss it that much. If I wanted to watch TV I could easily go into the living room and watch. Now this might not be so simple for those of you out there that have kids.
Ever since I got my iPad a few years ago I have absolutely loved using it as my portable movie device. I am pretty sure that every single night since I’ve had it I have fallen asleep watching something on Netflix or catching up on my latest YouTube channels. By the way I’ll take this opportunity to here to let you know that if you’re not watching Craig’s videos that are here on this site; then you are truly missing out on some great technology knowledge and he even takes time out each week to answer just about any question that you could have. I’m sorry for that shameless plug right there. I shall now jump back on the point for this article.
More and more people are using their tablets, notebooks, iPads, laptops and other devices to watch movies and other content on instead of having that second or third television in their home. I usually would wear headphones at night so that I could hear my content as well as I’d like. This works great if you’re the only one watching, but what happens when you’re trying to watch with another person? I have found that it gets hard to adjust the volume loud enough for a comfortable listening experience. If only there was some way to get those terrible speakers to seem louder!
XtremeMAC USB-SBT11
There are many different options when it comes to boosting the volume on your devices. I was a bit overwhelmed at first when I started looking into this need. I did not want to spend tons of money on this. I just wanted something portable and simple that would boost the volume enough so that two people could listen and hear things clearly together. That is exactly what I found in the XtremeMac USB-SBT11 Bluetooth speaker.
This speaker system was perfect for me. The set up process was extremely easy. I just went to my Bluetooth settings on both my iPad and my laptop and turned on theBluetooth. There is a button on the top of the XtremeMac SBT-11 that you simply hold down while your other device searches to find the speaker. A few seconds later you will hear a beep from your speaker and you are good to go. It’s really as simple as that.
Here are a few other key features that I really enjoy about this speaker system.
Double Sided Speakers:
I actually just noticed this last night when I was using my XtremeMac USB-SBT11 that each side of the device is a speaker. What this means for me is that you can put it inbetween you and the other person watching the show with you and it gives each of you a speaker pushing sound out in your direction. The speaker is wireless as well which basically goes without saying being that it is a Bluetooth enabled device.
Volume & Sound Quality:
This speaker is not going to blow your ears off. That’s not what it’s for really. Although XtremeMac does make a few other products that offer a bit more volume for a higher price; the USB-SBT11 has just enough to allow for an enjoyable listening experience without rattling the walls. The sound quality for music is a bit different than that for movies. If you’re looking for something that will really bump you as you listen to music with a lot of bass; then you should possibly look at another option for your speaker needs. However, if you are like me and just looking for something lightweight and portable to boost the volume for your video content; then you will be completely happy and satisfied with this speaker choice.
Setup & Charging:
Another thing that I love about the XtremeMac USB-SBT11 is that it’s so very simple to set up and even easier to charge. Set up is done by holding the connect to button on top of your speaker and charging the device is as simple as plugging it into a USB port on your computer. The speaker has a rechargeable internal battery. It also will show it’s battery power on the screen of whatever device you are pairing it with.
Final Thoughts:
The XtremeMac USB-SBT11 Bluetooth speaker is less than $50. It’s perfect for those of you that don’t want to burn a hole in your pocket and would like to be able to lay in bed with your iPad and watch a movie with someone else. Even if you aren’t watching with another person; maybe you just don’t like having to wear headphones all the time to hear your content. This speaker is the perfect solution for you!
