Did you text while driving today? Well you shouldn’t. I know I’m guilty of it from time to time too; but it really is crazy dangerous to do that. Most of us probably don’t even talk on the phone too much anymore. We have become a nation of text messaging people. I know I have. I think having unlimited text messages for me is more important than having unlimited data.
Maybe I’m nuts; but I use my phone far more often to communicate with my friends and family than I do to search the web, download songs or any of the other things that most of us do with our mobile devices. I’d like to say that I play games on my phone and iPad. I really don’t have any time to do that these days.
What is Voxer:
Voxer is a free walkie-talkie style app that allows you to communicate with your friends and family with push to talk capabilities and much more.
I did not really know what it was either. I was introduced to another app called, Hey Tell a few years ago. When my girlfriend saw that I was using this app; she instantly told me that I was so yesterday and that I needed to get the latest and greatest app for that type of thing. She introduced me to Voxer. In fact she was even kind enough to write down her thoughts for me so that I could use them in this article.
Here are her words on why everyone should use this great app:
Why Use Voxer:
If you haven’t already tried the walkie-talkie-style app “Voxer”, then get on board! This app is a life saver for people who hate to text, are in the car a lot, or for people who usually have too much to say (like me).
Voxer not only allows for voice recorded chat, but there is also a text option when you may be in a situation where you can’t voice record a message. Once downloaded, it automatically loads your phone’s contacts and recognizes the contacts who already use Voxer. By initiating a chat, you can include multiple people for a fun group chat, and if the mood strikes you, you can even share pics!
Voxer is by far one of my favorite (and most used) apps. I say this because it is a lifesaver in the car! No texting while driving! Just hit the “push to talk” button and speak to your hearts content.
This app also adds a bit of a personal touch to the new age of electronic communication. Sometimes texting can me tedious, and often what you may be trying to say can lead to a miscommunication, when we often cannot find the time to pick up the phone. With Voxer, they *hear* your voice, your inflection. And sometimes that makes all the difference when you need a pep talk, a laugh, a familiar voice.
It is very user friendly, and it’s available on both Android and iPhone app stores. More importantly it is cross platform and does not require the same/identical operating systems to reach out and “Voxer” someone. – Christy Hicks
So first of all; guys… when your girlfriend tells you to download an app because you’re so “yesterday”. Then you should really just go ahead and download the app on principal right? Although I’m glad that I did. I have found myself using it more and more. I love being able to go back and play different conversations. It’s like having personalized text messaging where you can hear the person.
I know that most of you iPhone users have used Siri to send text messages and that she’ll even read them to you; but wouldn’t it be much better and more personal to actually hear the person’s voice that sent you the message? I also love the fact that this app is so incredibly simple to use. There isn’t any turn around when it comes to learning the app. Not to mention there is even a tutorial that walks you through the whole thing.
So what are you waiting for. It’s free. Go to the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and get it now!
