When I was at the ABB Automation Power World in Florida this year, I had the opportunity to pick up some video clips of some really good robotics. This particular machine is a pick and place robot that is running on ABB robotics technology.
The role of a pick and place machine is simple, it’s objective is to pick up objects from a location and place them precisely where they need to be placed. They can also be coupled with other sensors to organize them differently. For example, one may consider putting in a photo eye and sorting an item by color while they are being placed.
This machine is a simple example of one, it takes nerds boxes from one side of a conveyor. These boxes are randomly assorted. It then places them in a six box sequence on the left hand side.
