So, you’ve got a blank square to put a awesome logo into…but you don’t have one.
Lets solve this problem with a wonderful graphic.
What you will need:
Photoshop CS4 or CS5 (the tutorial is made with CS5)
A good computer(its a lot of pixels…)
And very basic knowledge of Photoshop (if you get stuck on any of the steps, feel free to post here asking for help)
Now, let us begin.
We will be making something like this:
Create a new file with these settings:
The blank page might look a bit daunting, but trust me. Its designed for people to use and does not take to long to get used to.
Lets rename the layer to ‘background’, just double click the existing name.
Your doing well, now lets add a nice piano black background.
First, click the small black box and change it to a colour like to this one:
Now, select the gradient tool,
and drag from one corner to another.
Nice and simple.
You should get this:
(optional) Make a nice light in the corner.
Just simply select the brush tool,
and get these settings or similar.
Lets add some text, make a new layer and call it ‘text’.
Then in the text options window(look around for it if you cant see it, or click ‘window’ @ the top and choose character) choose a nice font I’m using a Minecraft font (Download link at end) and choose a font size.
Now, click the T icon,
and drag a nice size box across the screen.
Type what ever you want.
Now, lets make the text look nicer.
Click the ‘fx’ button under the layers box,
and click ‘drop shadow’.
Set the settings to what you would like to text to look like, feel free to play around with the settings.
Set the angle(the circle with line) to where the light is coming from.
Now, lets add some nice glass shards in the background.
Click new and set these settings:
Then, select the ‘polygon tool’,
Then just drag a nice square onto the canvas,
make sure to set your colours to black and white first.
Now, click the ‘direct selection tool’,
Click a side of the shape to get the hollow squares on the corners (this may take a bit of spam clicking),
and drag the squares into a nice diamond shape.
Right click on the shape layer and choose ‘Rasterize Layer’
Then, simply click edit>Define Brush Preset
Name it something appropriate like ‘Shards’.
Ok, we are done with the new file, go back to the main project.
And select the brush tool.
Choose this or similar options:
Create a new layer called ‘shards’ and drag it in-between the to layers.
Next, goto window>brush.
And choose these settings:
Close that window and change the colour of the front square to any colour you want (white works best for this)
And with the brush tool and shards layer selected, simply drag!
Next just save-as anything you want (I’m using .jpg)
With the highest quality,
You can customize any step, ad to and change anything, its your design!
I used ‘Screen hunter 5 free’ to take the pics, it should go into the free downloads.
