Do you email?
Of course you do. You probably email multiple times a day and probably even have multiple email accounts. You might have a work email account, a personal email account, and then that age old email account that you have had ever since you first started using the internet.
I can remember back when AOL was the biggest thing going and everyone seemed to be using it. There was even a time when I thought that AOL was the internet. I thought that was the only way to get online, the only way to get one of those new cool things called email accounts.
Through the years everyone under the sun now offers email. I personally use Gmail for my main email. However I will be the first to admit that the all new Microsoft Outlook has very much impressed me.
Bye Bye Hotmail, Hello Outlook!
Of course I had a Hotmail account. Who didn’t right? I really hated it though. It just never seemed to have the functionality that I wanted. Well my friends Microsoft has killed Hotmail and re-created an all new e mail experience. It’s simple, it’s clean, and it’s fantastic!
Key features of the all new Outlook:
No matter whether you are a Mac, Linux, or Windows user. Anybody can have an Outlook account. It’s simple to get one and simple to learn all the ins and outs of your inbox. Simply go to Outlook.com to get started. The new Outlook is fully integrated with Microsoft’s other features as well. Manage your Sky Drive, connect to Facebook and Twitter and much more. You can even chat with your Facebook friends via the Messenger application too.
Managing your e mails is a piece of cake. Make folders and move different categories into them. For example. If you want to have a folder named friends and throw all your e mails from your friends in there to keep them organized and out of your inbox; you can certainly do that very quickly and easily. Maybe you want to have a separate folder for your family members; you can do that as well. I understand that just about every single e mail client out there today has these features too; but in my opinion Outlook just makes it much easier for the non-tech savvy types that do not have the time or patience to go clicking around looking for how to do this or that. Outlook just really makes it all very easy.
Another key feature that I like is the ability to add something called a “Trusted Sender”. A trusted sender can be anyone that sends you an email that you trust to send you non malicious mail. The first time you log in to your new Outlook account you will see a few emails that are sent from the Outlook Team. If you look to the right of the sender name you will see a green icon that looks like a shield. This is the icon for “Trusted Sender”. When you see this icon you can rest assured that your email is safe to open and will not harm your computer in any way. You can add trusted senders as you see fit from the settings menu.
Some Friendly, Professional Advice:
This part may not be entirely about Microsoft Outlook but it can stand as being a great reason why you may need to think about switching your e mail, or at least sign up for an Outlook account. In today’s world it is almost guaranteed that if you want to establish yourself professionally then you are going to have to have an email account so that potential employers can contact you. Do you really want your potential new boss at your dream job to e mail you at, “[email protected]” ? Don’t worry, that’s not my email! I just made that one up and my apologies to anyone that actually does have that e mail. The reality is that of course you don’t want that. It is a great practice to have an e mail that is your name or business. I don’t worry so much about having the @outlook, @gmail, @wherever else; but having that name in there at the beginning is just a much more professional way to go about your business in my opinion.
Final Thought:
There are bunches of websites that offer great e mail services. In my opinion Outlook is a strong contender for the top spot. It is loaded with some great key features and integrates beautifully with anyone using the all new Windows 8. You don’t have to be a Windows user however to enjoy this great e mail client. If you are like me and enjoy having your digital world clean, neat and organized; then you will love the new look of Microsoft Outlook! Check it out and let us know what you think.
