Apple products have gone through many interations over the past decade. Two major changes to the platform were the addition of the TouchBar and the removal of the “magsafe” charger. The TouchBar at the top of the Macbook allows for custom settings to appear within certain apps. The MagSafe charger plug was designed to be “trip resistant”, which allowed for the magnet based charger to detached if the wire is bumped or tripped over.
Will it take up the USB-C slots? Absolutely not, this is more good news:
I’m actually a fan of both these ideas. I was pretty excited about the TouchBar when it was first released, but to be honest it doesn’t have much real world application the function keys didn’t already posses. When it comes to MagSafe, I still get worried every time I plug in my MacBook that my son or daughter are going to come tearing through the living room and rip my laptop of the counter or break the connector inside the MacBook. At least this is the case for me.
