Can Cortana Set And Keep Track Of Timers? If you have not tried to use a timer with your digital personal assistant then it’s the most logical place to start. Timers are extremely powerful tools when organizing and maintaining efficiency. Let me give some situations where this is true. For example, let’s say you are cooking some hamburgers on the grill and you need to flip the patties every 3 minutes. Boom, perfect time to ask your watch (or smartphone) to set a quick timer.
For another example, let’s say your laundry machine is down in your basement and you always seem to be checking on whether or not it is finished. This is a perfect situation where you can ask your watch (or smartphone) to go off after a certain amount of time. Let’s go with one last example. Let’s say you aren’t quite sure how long it takes your toaster to toast bread (ignore the fact that it says the minutes on it). You can start a stopwatch with your watch (or smartphone) as well!

So we can set reminders or even schedule appointments. But there is still one more extremely useful tool that we can use. Cortana also gives you the ability to set timers. At first, timers seem like a boring trick. However, there are many useful reasons to utilize timers in your everyday life.
As a parent, timers are an invaluable resource. I regularly use timers to keep the kids in the loop on upcoming bed times, how much tablet time they have left or even to give them something to wait for when they are impatient.
If you haven’t attempted to utilize timers in your daily life then you will thank me after starting to use them. Timers can be extremely addictive.
Simply state, “Set a timer for [time]” or “Start a stop watch”
For example:
- Simply state, “Set a timer for [time]”
- “Hey Cortana, set a laundry timer for 60 minutes.”
- Or “Hey Cortana, set a bedtime timer for 15 minutes.

I personally use my Apple watch almost daily to set timers throughout the day. For example, I may set a timer when I am cooking something on my oven.
