Ever so often generally on Tuesday something special happens. Tuesdays are more often than not the day that new media comes out. That new media could be a new music album, a new movie, or in this case a great new video game. Well my friends that day was only a few days ago and I can tell you that the anticipation has been mounting for myself and many others across the globe that are fans of 2KGame’s Borderlands franchise. Borderlands 2 was released this Tuesday.
I have to admit that I did not pre-order this game. Not because I didn’t think I’d end up buying it. No, that was never in doubt. I just am not much of a pre-ordering kind of guy. So anyways, I did however go and pick up a copy with a friend of mine on Tuesday. That’s the catch to the Borderlands franchise. Both versions one and versions two are fantastic games to play alone or with friends. Although, I have to tell you that with friends is where this game truly shines.
Welcome Vault Hunters – The Premise
Borderlands 2 follows the same premise as the first. Players are given a choice of 4 different character classes to choose from upon starting the game. Just like the first game. You have your Sniper guy. You have your Siren character in all her glory. Then there is the Big Brute Gunslinger, and last but not least you have my personal favorite the Soldier Commando character class. Deciding on which class is right for you can be daunting but the great thing is that you really don’t have to choose.
I have created one character to play when I’m playing amongst friends and an entirely separate character to play when it’s just me. You can intermingle characters in and out of anyone’s game so don’t worry about making one character in one game and then wanting that same character to be able to play with your friends. No problem! Borderlands 2 makes it very simple to manage your games and your characters.
Each character has their different attributes that you get to choose how to use. Everything you do in Borderlands gains you experience points and that’s how you level up your character. Another added bonus is that Borderlands 2 gives you some new features in terms of character appearance customizations. I’m one of those people that appreciates that.
You are a vault hunter. I’m not going to go into all the details of what that means. I’m thinking that if you’ve read this far then you probably have played the first game and you know good and well all the awesome things that come along with being a Vault Hunter in Borderlands.
Welcome Vault Hunters – The Start
Borderlands 2 starts off a little bit different than the first one does. This time around you are weaponless. Don’t worry though because Borderlands 2 is chock full of everything you need. Smash a glowing rock and watch money, guns, health and more magically appear for the taking. Kill an enemy and take the loot. Loot is the name of the game in Borderlands 2. It’s everywhere. You could spend hours just exploring every nook and crevice and find tons of great things to keep, sell, and trade.
Guns, Guns, Guns, and um, More Guns! –
If you played the first Borderlands game then you know just how many different guns there were in that game. Now take that amount and multiply it by about twenty. I’m not kidding. Guns are everywhere and the game developers have already come out and stated that no two guns are alike in Borderlands 2. You are also able to trade with friends much easier now which is a big added bonus.
What Are You Waiting For?
I have only had Borderlands 2 for a few days but I can honestly say that over those days a few other friends of mine have gone out and gotten the game as well. With each of them choosing a different Vault Hunter Borderlands 2 character we have just had amazing amounts of fun blowing up the Borderland’s world of Pandora together. This is truly where the game shines. I’d say it’s a must buy for any one looking for hours of fun and if you’ve ever played a shooter game before in your life; then Borderlands 2 is an obvious choice for you. Above all else, jump in, relax, and go kick some ass! Happy vault hunting!
