VIDEO: How To Add Apps To The Windows 10 Lock Screen

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Very few people know that they can customize their Windows 10 lock screen. The lock screen is the screen you are greeted with when you restart your computer or come back to your computer after it has gone into standby. Most of the native Windows 10 apps such as mail, messenger and weather can be added to the lock screen immediately after the Windows 10 installation. There is one catch, however. If you don't actually have these apps configured then they will not show up on the lock screen. They also will not show up if there are no notifications to show. In general, having the lock screen customized can give you "at a glance" information such as notifications and weather. This video will show you how to activate them.

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - The Windows 10 environment comes with a standard background for your lock screen. For those of you who do not know, the lock screen is the screen that appears when you either first login to your computer or optionally logout. Changing the background picture for the lock screen is extremely easy and can be done by pretty much anyone. I personally prefer to use my own image that I downloaded for my Windows 10 lock screen, but you can also choose to use one of the images included with Windows 10. Whatever you decide, this video will show you how to use your own background image or a Windows 10 image for your lock screen background.

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Whether you love or hate them the Windows 10 start menu tile shortcuts are here to stay. These shortcuts can be rearranged, resized and categorized to your liking. Many people find the tile shortcut system useful if they a bit of time is dedicated to organizing the tile system. Windows 10 gives you alot of screen real estate to do this and it's mostly popular for users who have a touch screen monitor on their computer, desktop or tablet. You can also disable what are called "live tiles" - the tiles that regularly update themselves with videos, news articles or animations.

VIDEO: How To Uninstall Or Remove Windows 10 Store Apps

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Windows 10 comes jam packed with many Microsoft Store applications that you may (or may not) want to have. If you don't want an application then it is typically a good idea to uninstall them... but how is this done? This video will walk you through the uninstallation and removal of unwanted Windows 10 Microsoft Store apps. This process can be done in a couple of ways and I will make sure to show you a common error people make when attempting to uninstall their Windows 10 applications. For those of you who don't know the difference, an "App" is a program that was downloaded directly from the Microsoft App store on your Windows 10 computer or tablet. A "program" is a Windows 10 program that was installed with a downloaded (or disk based) installer. Apps tend to have smaller functions than full program software packages.

VIDEO: How To Run And Configure Windows 10 Automatic Updates

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Windows updates, they're notorious, and obnoxious... but necessary. It's extremely important to always make sure your computer has the latest Windows Updates installed. If you don't have them installed it will likely put your computer's security (as well as your own information) at risk. The good news is Microsoft has come a long way in it's successful distribution of Windows updates. Updating Windows 10 is seamless and painless, not to mention it can now come packed with some additional features and major operating system releases. In case you didn't know, Microsoft has switched to the "Apple" model of rolling out updates for it's operating system. No more purchasing "Windows 11.. 12... 13... 75". That's right! Let's just hope they keep their word on that one. In either case, this video will walk you through updating Windows 10 as well as some advanced features of configuring your Windows 10 automatic updates to be less obnoxious.

VIDEO: How To Quickly Update Windows 10 Apps

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Many people extremely frustrated win the Windows 8 operating system was released and forced users into the Windows App interface. This was a justified frustration mostly because many of us didn't actually have a mobile device where a touch screen style interface was needed - but they gave it to us anyway. Something good game out of that ordeal, however. The Windows 10 approach to apps gave us a smaller version of the Tile App screen right within our start menu. It also gave us access to all those nifty Windows apps from the app store. If you're like me, you like notifications, and many apps such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter will give you those notifications right on your Windows 10 desktop. Where there are apps there are updates. Many people do not realize that all of these updates don't simply "magically run" like most Windows updates and they need to be run manually. This video will show you how it's done.

VIDEO: How To Multi-Task Like A Pro with Task View On Windows 10

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Multi-tasking is one of the great features every operating system gives us. Windows 10 is rich with a new multi-tasking environment that lets you manage not only all of your running applications, but switch between running applications on different virtual desktops. If you're like me, you may have many different desktops open at any given time. One great feature of having multiple desktops is that you can have a "set" of applications open on specific desktops. Sometimes I might have one desktop setup for "browser research" while another desktop is setup for programming and development. Each respective desktop is setup as it's own instance so I can have any number of applications or programs running on it at any given time. They will be independent of one another so there is no overlap between them.

VIDEO: How To Disable Tile Shortcuts From The Windows 10 Start Menu

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - As useful as the tiles in the start menu can be, sometimes it can be extremely redundant. After all, we have our shortcuts in the start menu, we can search for them and we can even put them on our desktop or pin them to the taskbar. After awhile, you really only need shortcuts in so many places. If you're like me, you're old school, and really don't open the start menu. Ether you launch your programs from the taskbar or you simply type the name of the program into your search and select it. If this is the case then you really have no use for the tiles... I know I dont. So this video covers how to completely remove the tiles from the start menu. This is actually and extremely painless process and you can get this entire process completed in only a matter of a couple of minutes.

VIDEO: How To Pin (Or Unpin) Programs To The Windows 10 Start Menu

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - The "tile" system implemented into the Windows 8 and Windows 10 operating systems allows you to create a more "graphical" method for organizing your applications. This video will show you how to pin newly installed applications (or unpin programs you do not use) on the Windows 10 start menuThe tile system works extremely well for individuals who have touch screen monitors or a tablet environment. The Surface Pro tablet, for example, works as a desktop computer most of the time, but when you switch over to the tablet you can have a better experience with the larger tiles. Tiles can also be re-arranged, resized and categorizes. This allows for even more in depth organization of applications you enjoy using.

VIDEO: How To Reinstall A Network Card Adapter On Windows 10

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Network troubleshooting can be extremely frustrating to even the most veteran computer users. One great thing about Windows 10 is that it retains a copy of the network card driver even if you remove the network card. The reason this is important is because it gives you the advantage of being able to reinstall that network card if something goes awry. Many times network configurations can get jumbled up. Or perhaps an application is hanging up your network card in the background. Removing and reinstalling the network card gives you a fresh start on your network configuration. If you do manage to get the card reinstalled and your network working again, then make sure to follow the final steps in this video to update to the latest version of your network card's drivers. This will ensure better long term results.

VIDEO: How To Pin (Or Unpin) Items To The Windows 10 Taskbar

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Pinning (and Unpinning) items to the taskbar is an essential skill every Windows 10 user will need to know. This is extremely easy to do and allows you to quickly access any program right from the taskbar rather than go hunting for it. I am notorious for having far too many items on my taskbar. Sometimes my taskbar is completely filled with items and I use it as a launcher. This launcher looks very similar to the Mac when it is completely filled. The taskbar is a great part of the Windows 10 operating system and it offers a great amount of flexibility. You can even rearrange the icons using your own discretion.

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - Cortana is a voice command system built into the Windows 10 operating system. For many of us, we have no interest in actually using Cortana voice search. If you don't want the oversized search bar taking up a large chunk of your taskbar then you're in luck. Microsoft built in the ability to hide this search bar completely or simply reduce it down to the size of an icon. My preference is to leave it as a search bar (unless there are so many icons I simply don't have room for it)

VIDEO: How To Make Windows 10 Internet Browsing Speed Faster

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - We all love fast internet and internet browsing, it's true. But let's face it, not all browsers are created equal. This video is going to show how you can quickly download a fast, free browser alternative to the native Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 10 Althought Microsoft has done a tremendous job making sure the Microsoft Edge browser is clean, beatuiful and secure - they just can't compare when it comes to rendering websites quickly. You will actually see the difference in rendering speeds in this video as soon as I switch over to Chrome. Chrome has other advantages too. You can use any Google account you may have (whether that is YouTube, Gmail or something else) and it will automagically synchronize all of your bookmarks, extensions and passwords between all of your devices. Pretty awesome, yeah?

VIDEO: How To Install Free Microsoft Apps On Windows 10

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - The Windows 10 App store has actually come a long way since it's conception. Is it as good as the Apple App store? Of course not. How about the Google Play App store? Not even close. Ok, so it's not the best, but it's built into your operating system so you might as well take advantage of it when you can. Many people skip over the Microsoft Store features for app installation because they don't think there is any reason to run Apps on their desktop. I find that one of the major advantages are to get dedicated notifications for certain applications. For example, if you get the Facebook and Twitter app, you can setup desktop notifications on your computer. You may also find some odds and ends, such as scientific calculators or niche software that fits an immediate need. It's a quick an dirty way to a solution sometimes.

This video is brought to you by: http://www.craigthetechteacher.com - If you're like me, you didn't connect your initial user profile on Windows 10 to a Microsoft account. Unfortunatey many of the features of the Windows 10 operating system are actually tied to this account. The good news is connecting your Microsoft Account to your Windows 10 operating system is a snap. To do this you will simply follow a few steps, either create or login to a Microsoft account, and verify it. You'll want to connect your Microsoft account if you want to take advantages of things such as outlook e-mail integration, backups to OneDrive or even access to Microsoft Store items.
