GSkill Ripjaw X Series RAM 8 GB F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

This video is an unboxing and overview of the extremely cost effective 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) G.Skill Ripjaw X Series RAM. Computer memory, or RAM, is often confused with hard drive space. In reality, computers do not need nearly the amount of RAM as they do hard drive space.

RAM, or Random Access Memory, is a temporary storage location for data as it is processed by the main processor. Although this sounds complicated, it’s really not.

The idea is to keep items awaiting processing in “line” waiting for the processor, as soon as the processor is ready, the RAM is transferred via a “bus” to the processor for processing.

G.Skill has made a name for itself in the short 5 years they’ve been out. These particular units only cost $40.00 from Newegg.com. For 8 Gigabytes of memory, that, my friend, is a steal.

As of the making of this video, the G.Skill Ripjaw X Series RAM received 5 out of 5 eggs out of 1,000 reviews, making the decision of reliability an extremely easy one to make. I’ve personally had exceptional luck with the G.Skill memory over the years and wouldn’t hesitate to purchase it.

Memory specifications: 8 Gigabytes total in two 4 Gigabyte sticks as a dual channel kit. The memory speed runs at DDR3 1600, or PC3 12800. They sport a fancy heat sink that allows for basic overclocking and heat dissipation. The default timings are 9-9-9-24.

For those of you who are not sure how much memory to put into their machine, I typically recommend the following as a minimum:

– Windows XP – 2 Gigabytes of Memory
– Windows Vista – 4 Gigabytes of Memory
– Windows 7 – 4 Gigabytes of Memory
– Windows 8 – 4 Gigabytes of Memory

In the end, I was very happy with the bang I got for my buck on this memory. The packaging was solid and as always, the G.Skill memory includes a lifetime warranty. This is an excellent product and a must have for those looking to upgrade their memory.
